Bill will lower costs and increase quality - Reno Gazette Posted: 21 Apr 2010 01:34 PM PDT What a goofy health-care dialogue. Between the purveyors of wacky, over-the-top notions like death squads, the dismantling of Medicare for seniors (you know, that non-governmental program), the new administration of socialists-communists-Nazis (your choice), the apocalyptic destruction of our grandchildren's financial future, and, on the receiving end, those whipped-into-a-frenzy tea party folks who prefer to lap up these fantastic fictions to fact-checking, one questions the benefit of free democratic discourse. The facts are that integrated delivery systems, minimizing fee-for-service medicine, leveraging technology to identify best-in-class solutions and streamline processes will all lower costs and increase the quality of U.S. health care, not to mention the financial benefit of getting poor folks out of emergency rooms. Oh, yes, and then there is that little ethical question regarding how a nation that characterizes itself as the greatest on Earth chooses to allow a chunk of its citizenry (most of us, given the circumstances) to remain vulnerable to physical and financial ruin. When will Americans wake up and recognize the scare tactics for what they are, the tool of those who place their own corporate or personal bottom line above all else, including the truth? Greed is not good. Hank Kimbell Sparks Five Filters featured article: Chilcot Inquiry. Available tools: PDF Newspaper, Full Text RSS, Term Extraction. |
